Roberto F. Canuto, realizador español afincado en Los Ángeles, nos revela los entresijos de su carrera cinematográfica y de sus últimos trabajos, Toto Forever, un cortometraje que narra la historia de un amor imposible, la de Toto y un ganster; y Desire Street, su primer largo, codirigido con Xu Xiaoxi.
El deseo, la ruptura, el conflicto..., Toto Forever se posiciona en el drama, en lo extremo, en la fractura del joven protagonista para componer un mapa de sensaciones que revoca en la esperanza de aquello que existe más allá de las fronteras de la cotidianeidad.
Desire Street, narra la divertida peripecia de una familia mejicana en EEUU, una familia rota, con un pasado secreto, que encuentra su camino gracias a una vecina prostituta.
Biografía del director:
Roberto F. Canuto es natural de Gijón, Asturias (Spain). Se graduó en la facultad de Imagen y Sonido en la Universidad Complutende de Madrid (Spain) y obtiene un “Master in Fine Arts” en la “New York Film Academy” de los Estudios Universal (Hollywood), donde dirige varios cortometrajes en differentes formatos (Film, HD, Redone), destacando “Me Inside Me” y “Toto Forever”. Colaborador habitual con Xu Xiaoxi (”Mei Mei”), el largometraje que han co-dirigido, “Desire Street”, está en postproducción y promete ser uno de los Indi films mas atractivos y sorprendentes del año.

Toto Forever, a short film that recounts the history of an impossible love, Toto and a gang member. Desire Street, his first movie codirected with Xu Xiaoxi.
The desire, the rupture, the conflict..., Toto Forever sets into a extreme drama in which the fractured young star creates an array of sensations that invokes to the further feelings beyond the borders of the routine daily life.
Desire Street recounts the ups and downs of a broken Mexican family, with a secret past, living in the USA that finds its way of life due to a neighbouring prostitute.
Roberto F. Canuto is a filmmaker from Gijón (Asturias), Spain. He is a graduate in Filmmaking, He obtains his bachelors degree in “Image and Sound” at the Complutense University of Madrid in 1998. During his years of study he worked as a film critic in different magazines, as “Voz en Off” (also co?editor) and he analyzed and get influenced by many classic directors after frequent sessions at the Spanish Cinemateque. In addition to his film experiences, he has degrees in Music studies for the Royal Conservatory of Music of Oviedo (Spain).
After graduation he expend many years in London (UK) working on a different field, until 2008, when he decides to persuade his filmmaking passion and he moves to Los Angeles to complete a Master in Fine Arts (MFA) at the New York Film Academy (Universal Studios, Hollywood), where he directs different shorts in various formats (including Film, HD and Red Camera). He also directed a feature film. He graduated in 2009.
Roberto starts his collaborations with Xu Xiaoxi in early 2008. Between many projects, he collaborates with him as a writer, editor and Director of Photography in "Mei Mei", a short film directed by Xu Xiaoxi in 2009. Roberto’s short “Toto Forever”, completed in 2009, is being presented in many international festivals, receiving awards, nominations and great reviews. “Desire Street” is his first feature film.
